The $31,500 Mitsubishi ASX XLS 2WD small SUV was updated in December 2017, and is based on a car that was released in 2010.

The XLS sits third in a range of five, and is above the $25,000 LS petrol powered manual and the CVT gearbox-equipped LS at $27,000. It sits below the LS AWD diesel $32,500 and the XLS AWD diesel at $37,000.

The XLS features smart keyless entry and push-button start, auto lights and wipers, a 7.0-inch colour multimedia screen with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity (but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto), panoramic roof, leather seat facings, rear view camera and sensors, plus heated front seats.

Built in Japan, the petrol ASX uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 110kw and 197Nm. It’s mated to a continuously variable transmission.
