Volkswagen Multivan Black Edition 2019 pricing confirmed

The Multivan Black Edition turns to the dark side with its black alloy wheels, side-mirror caps, decals and roof.

Volkswagen Australia has revealed the Multivan Black Edition, a special-edition version of its people-mover, which will enter showrooms next month priced from $63,490 plus on-road costs.

The special Multivan variant turns to the dark side with its black alloy wheels, side-mirror caps, decals, roof and exterior trim, while timber-look flooring features inside.

As a result, $9900 is added to the pricetag of the TDI340 Comfortline upon which the Black Edition is based, meaning it is motivated by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that develops 103kW of power and 340Nm of torque.

These outputs are exclusively sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

While pricing has been confirmed, Volkswagen Australia is yet to confirm the Black Edition’s exact specifications and the number of examples allocated locally.

The Black Edition was set to arrive last year, but its delivery boats were turned around due to the ongoing stink-bug issue that has forced several car manufacturers to delay their shipments.

Marmorated stink bugs have been found in cargo ships on their way to Australia, posing a possible bio-security risk due to their ability to damage agricultural crops and plants.

The Multivan has been given the special-edition treatment before, with Volkswagen Australia most recently releasing the limited Kombi 70 in 2018 and Edition25 in 2011.
