The teaser campaign for the new Volkswagen Amarok continues, with the German brand releasing sketches of the new model ahead of an official on-sale date late in 2022.
We're yet to see the new model in the metal, but the "near-production" sketches do at least give us some idea of what to expect, with the boxy dual-cab looking admittedly tough in the images. And you can at least partly thank Australia for that, with the brand saying its "lines (were) noticeably sharpened by the designers in Australia and Germany".
“We emphasise the different, expressive front designs of our pick-up with a charismatic Amarok signature that is also found with very large letters on the cargo box at the rear and is sported very proudly by the Amarok”, says Albert-Johann Kirzinger, head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
“The styling bar as a visual extension of the double cab in the cargo box once again gives the Amarok’s body dynamic, aerodynamic and very strong proportions”.
Tangible information remains thin on the ground for now, other than the fact we know the new model has grown in length (by 10cm to 5.35 metres), will deliver "plenty of towing power and torque", and will fit a Euro pallet in its tray.
Want more? I'm afraid we'll have to wait and see. The countdown to the new Amarok continues.
