Organisers of Repco Rally Australia cancelled this morning’s Special Stage 6 (CTEK East 1) for spectator and driver safety concerns.
The 11.33 km stage on Byrill Creek Road, at the eastern end of the course, was cancelled after three cars had passed through.
The stage started at 10.37 am. Competitors moved on to Special Stage 7, which was due to start at 11.40.

Bates 4th in PWRC, locked in tight battle with six other drivers. Corolla running well on WRC debut in changing weather.

Officials of Repco Rally Australia have cancelled two Special Stage competitive sections on today’s scheduled program of the World Rally Championship round.
This morning’s Special Stage 6 (CTEK East 1), which started at 10.37, was cancelled because of safety concerns for spectators and drivers. Police said they had reports that boulders had been placed on the road and the first rally car on the road was hit by a number of rocks.
Later they cancelled a second running (CTEK East II) of the 11.33 km stage on Byrill Creek Road, at the eastern end of the course. The stage had been due to run at 3.03 pm.
Crews resumed the scheduled itinerary from SS12 (Mooball II) at 4.05 pm. The Tweed Super Special Stage at Murwillumbah is due to start as scheduled at 6.30 pm.

Bates sixth in PWRC at end of Day 1.Set fastest PWRC time on day's lat stage, now just 46.2 seconds behind leader Richard Mason (+57m:37.7). Confident for Day 2...

Bates upped pace and moved to 5th early, then unlucky to puncture radiator, costing him five minutes. Team repairing car and will rejoin battle tomorrow. PWRC early leader Martin Prokop has regained his lead after hitting a rock yesterday and losing time. He has moved to be 4.1 seconds ahead of Richard Mason, with Cody Crocker another 10.6 seconds back.
