Major overhaul for popular EV

An interior update for the MG4 electric car has been revealed in South America.

The 2026 MG4 will, according to the brand’s Brazilian website page for the model, be bestowed with a new interior that does away with at least one divisive feature.

The raised panel protruding from the dash which housed the gear selector wheel is no more, according to images, with a more traditional centre console incorporating the selector, a phone charger, and cupholders.

While the interior remains relatively minimal in terms of physical controls, there are now dials and toggles for climate controls.

The main multimedia touchscreen is replaced by a larger 12.8-inch unit, with a 10.25-inch driver display accompanying it.

Aside from the interior, the MG4 appears to remain unchanged in other areas, with the exterior seemingly identical to the outgoing version.

This updated interior, which has debuted in left-hand drive form for Brazil, is also unrelated to the ‘new’ MG4 shown in China this year, which rides on a different platform and is mostly unrelated to the MG4 sold here.

MG Australia has already confirmed the Chinese market version of the MG4 wouldn’t replace the one sold here. Instead, it will be sold alongside it, dubbed the MG4 Urban.
