Luxurious 2025 Tesla Model Y rival gets more range and tech upgrade: 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 priced for Australia with $7000 price hike

Around eight months after the facelifted Genesis GV70 line-up arrived locally, the brand has detailed the electric version ahead of imminent deliveries.

The 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 continues to only be offered in a single, range-topping trim level now called Signature Performance and is now priced from $132,800 before on-roads. This is $6942 more than the pre-update model.

Power still comes from dual electric motors that each produce 160kW (180kW in Boost mode) and 350Nm. Total system output is still 320kW.

A key change with this update is there’s a larger 84kWh (up from 77.4kWh) battery pack that helps increase WLTP claimed range to 462km (up from 445km).

Genesis claimed you can charge this larger battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 19 minutes when hooked up to a 350kW DC fast-charger.

These include Matrix LED headlights, a 27-inch OLED curved display for the touchscreen multimedia system and digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, a UV-C sanitising console, and an air aroma diffuser, among others.

On the outside there’s a unique “G-Matrix” faux grille pattern with EV-specific front bumper, side skirt and rear spoiler designed to increase range. There are also special 20-inch alloy wheels.

There are a number of new exterior and interior colour combinations available. Matte exterior paint continues to cost an additional $2000.

A change under the skin includes additional “hydro bushings” in the rear suspension that are claimed to minimise vibrations.

On the safety front, the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 picks up the car brand’s latest suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

These include junction assist for the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, evasive steering assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, an updated lane centring function with lane change assistance, as well as an updated remote parking function.

There’s also a crosswind stabilisation control system that helps control lane departures caused by strong crosswinds.

Genesis offers the Electrified GV70 with a five-year subscription to its connected services. This allows for certain in-vehicle functions like SOS emergency calling and connected navigation, as well as smartphone app functions like remote alerts and a vehicle health report, among others.

The connected services also allow the multimedia system to conduct over-the-air software updates.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, with its high-voltage battery covered by an eight-year, 160,000km warranty.

Logbook servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first, and the first five services are complimentary.

Buyers also get a five-year Chargefox subscription, and five years of roadside assistance. The latter can be extended to 10 years if you service at Genesis dealers.
