Amid the glamour of new models, star cars from the past add variety and a sense of history to the Motor Show.

Always a favourite with the crowds, the 2006 Shannons Insurance and Auctions display highlighted the growing popularity amongst collectors of Aussie muscle cars from the 1960s and ’70s.

According to Shannons, cashed-up Baby Boomers are driving muscle cars to record prices at auction. Several such cars, including an original one-owner 1971 Valiant Charger E38, were offered at Shannons’ traditional motor show auction – held on the last afternoon of the Show.
