Audi A4 2019 revealed

Audi has introduced a new S Line Competition package for its 2019 A4 range.

Audi has uncovered the facelifted version of its A4 sedan and wagon ahead of their arrival in Australian showrooms in early 2019.

The subtle styling tweaks to the front and rear of the A4 include a pentagonal theme for the exterior air inlets with aluminium-look bars up front.

Changes have also been made to the S Line exterior package, including new bumpers with what the company says is a “wedge-shaped” design and tweaked foglight housings that incorporate air inlets.

On the S Line, the ‘singleframe’ grille features slats with a 3D look, while at the rear, the new bumper houses two wide trapezoidal exhaust pipes replacing the previous round units.

The A4 has been slightly tweaked to follow a pentagonal theme.

Alloy wheels ranging in size from 16 to 19 inches have also been redesigned.

An S Line Competition package also makes its debut on the 2019 A4, and it includes an RS spoiler on Avant wagon variants, a blade in the front bumper, a ‘selenite silver’ stone-chip guard strip and a new 'Turbo Blue' paint finish.

It also features the Audi four-ring logo on the lower part of the rear doors, Audi Sport 19-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, sport suspension and LED headlights.

Inside, the Competition adds RS carbon inlays, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and black partial leather seats, while buyers can option S sport seats in 'Magma Red' or a number of other colours.

Full pricing and spec is set to be announced closer to 2019.

The German carmaker is expected to confirm pricing and full specification closer to the updated A4’s launch early in 2019.

At the moment, the A4 range starts at $56,100 excluding on-road costs for the A4 1.4 TFSI petrol sedan and tops out at $152,900 for the ballistic RS4 Avant.

A4 sales are down this year, with 635 examples of the sedan and wagon finding homes to the end of May, which represents a 34.7 per cent slide compared with the same period in 2017.

Avant wagon variants will also benefit from the S Line Competition package.

It places the A4 fourth in the $60,000-plus mid-size car segment this year, with it trailing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2641 units) and CLA (1413), and BMW 3 Series (1209) but ahead of the Audi A5 Sportback (347) and Volkswagen Arteon (312), among others.

Are the subtle changes enough to lift Audi A4 sales? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
