Ford has revealed a new variant of the Everest SUV, based on a popular one already found in the Ranger family - Wildtrak.

The Ford Everest Wildtrak has been confirmed by Ford New Zealand with a page dedicated to the new variant already live on its website, showing that the seven-seater borrows its specification heavily from the Ranger Wildtrak.

A Wildtrak-specific grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch instrument cluster and 12.0-inch multimedia screen, plus Wildtrak interior trim are all on the cards for NZ, with specific badging and orange accents found inside and out respectively.

New Zealand pricing for the Everest Wildtrak hasn't been announced yet, though if the model was to come to Australia, it would certainly fit in between the Sport and Platinum variants, placing it between $69,590 and $77,530 before on-road costs.

A spokesperson for Ford Australia told CarsGuide there are currently no plans for the Everest Wildtrak, saying it's "an exciting new addition to the global Ford Everest line-up, but we have no news to share about an Australian introduction".

Given the popularity of the Everest within Ford Australia's model range, it would be surprising for the Blue Oval's Aussie arm to turn down a variant that has proven popular in the Ranger family.

In 2022, the Everest finished up just behind the Isuzu MU-X (fun fact, the MU previously stood for 'mysterious utility') Ā in terms of sales, 10,314 to Isuzu's 10,987, though the Toyota LandCruiser Prado had both beat with 21,102 sales.

While the 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel version of the Ranger Wildtrak is more readily available, it’s unclear if Ford Australia would offer that engine in an Everest of the same grade.

For Ford, the Wildtrak badge has been popular enough that current wait times for the Ranger Wildtrak V6 have stretched out to approximately a year, having stated in November 2022 that an order placed then "may not arrive until approximately quarter four, 2023 and its pricing and/or specifications may be different".

While the 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel version of the Ranger Wildtrak is more readily available, it's unclear if Ford Australia would offer that engine in an Everest of the same grade, though the Sport and Platinum found below and above its expected place in the range are only available with a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6.
