VY Calais flat battery

Sine buying a new VY Calais in 2004 I have had five new batteries fitted. I never knew I had a problem; every time the battery went flat the NRMA said I needed a new one, so a new one was fitted. It was not until the fifth battery went flat that the NRMA service man said it was not the battery. He checked the discharge rate and said it is discharging at 10 times the rate it should be, so I knew I had a problem. They dealer initially "fixed" it at no cost to me, but it wasn't fixed. The next time they told me that the radio was no good and I was quoted $750 for a new one. Instead I went to a radio technician who found the problem and referred me to an auto electrician who fixed it at a cost of $500. I never complained about flat batteries as I was told they don't last like they used to, now I know better.

One flat battery is unfortunate, two is a worry, but five should have been a clear sign something was wrong and that your car needed to be checked by a mechanic. Had you acted while the warranty was in effect you could have had it fixed at no cost to you.
