I HAVE a frustrating, intermittent problem with my 1994 VR Commodore V6, which has done 190,000km. It tends to hesitate with what sometimes feels like a misfire when under load. It can occur under any condition, but only occasionally. Thinking it was electrical I have changed all the spark plugs and high-tension leads and cleaned the multi-pin DFI connector. I also cleaned the fuel injectors using a fuel additive, changed the fuel filter and checked and cleaned the connectors on the fuel pump/sender unit. The fuel pump was replaced about two years ago. Am I right to assume the problem lies with the fuel system, either the fuel pump or debris inside the tank?
IT'S caused by a fault with either the electrics or the fuel, and neither should be ruled out. It could be dirty injectors. Even though you've tried a cleaner, it doesn't necessarily clear a blockage. It's better used to keep the injectors clean. Consider having the injectors cleaned. On the electrical front I'd have the ignition coil packs checked.
