Holden Captiva: Timing case leak

My 2008 Holden Captiva LX has only done 60,000 km, but my dealer has told me the timing case is leaking and requires sealing, which will cost about $1000. The dealer contacted Holden about it as they thought Holden pay for it. Holden said they would pay half, but I'm not sure if I should pay the other half or fight with them to cover all costs. Do I accept their offer?

$1000 does sound like a lot of money to fix an oil leak; I reckon a local mechanic could do it for less. The cost aside I would accept the deal, the car is out of warranty and an oil leak is not something I would spend time and energy fighting over.
