MY FORD BF XR6 is three years and three months old and has done only 57,543km, but when I took it in for its 60,000km service I was told it needed new diff bushes and that the power steering pump was leaking and would need replacing. The brake hoses were replaced at the previous service. Ford carried out the latest repairs under warranty even though it had expired by three months, but surely it's not acceptable to have these problems on a car that has travelled only 57,543 km? I had planned to update to a new XR6 later this year, but have lost faith in the brand. I now plan to buy a Commodore S; do you have any other suggestions for a similar car?

It's really not good enough, but at least Ford fixed the car under warranty. It's not possible for me to say whether the Commodore will be any better; all cars are subject to failures. Other than the Commodore it's difficult to find a car that matches the XR6 for price, size and performance. Performance models of the sort that I would recommend, BMW 135i or 330i, Lexus is250, are generally smaller and more expensive, and may not suit your needs.
