Putting in the wrong fuel

Can I drive 300 km in a bakkie (South African for pickup or ute) with diesel and petrol? When I filled the tank it was three-quarters full, when I reached my destination there was a quarter-tank. I put in R400 worth of diesel. I rode 30 km and the bakkie jerked twice, lost speed and stopped.

You shouldn’t run diesel in a car made to run on petrol, and it seems that’s what you have done. You have to drain the fuel, flush the fuel system, refill it with petrol and hope that that’s enough to fix it. You might have to replace other parts of the fuel system, like fuel injectors, fuel pump etc.
