Over filling engine oil

When checking the oil level after each service on my old Mazda Bravo I would regularly find it at least a centimeter above the 'H' mark on the dipstick. I would always have the excess oil drained, and there was never any argument about it. Last year, after the 1000 km service on my new Nissan Navara D40 I found it to be 450mm above the mark. This was rectified when drawn to the attention of the Service Manager, but now after the latest service I have found it to be 380mm high. Another Nissan dealer estimated it had 2.5 litres too much oil in it. Why would they waste so much oil, and do other people have similar experiences?

Have you checked your invoice to see how much oil you have been charged for? It could be a case of being overcharged for oil you don't need, or it could equally be incompetent service staff simply overfilling your engine.
