I have an ongoing problem with my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander RX where after about an hour of driving when I stop and accelerate again it barely moves. I put my foot to the floor and it crawls like a turtle, it won't rev. The only fix I have found is to turn the engine off and re-start it. It only happens now and then, and only after hours of driving, but it's dangerous when you're at an intersection or roundabout where you need to stop and go. The dealer has tested it and has found nothing, but they only drive it for a few minutes when the problem doesn't occur until you've driven for hours. Can you help?
It sounds like it is going into limp-home mode for some reason, and by turning the engine off and re-starting you are resetting the computer so it drives normally again. It is probably a sensor playing up, but because it only happens intermittently it's hard to trace. I would sit down with the dealer and explain the conditions when it happens and give them as much information as possible to trace the cause of the problem.
