Holden Captiva 2010: Engine light

Two weeks ago the engine light in my 2010 Holden Captiva came on and stayed on. I bought it last October and took it back to the used car dealer I bought it from to get it fixed. They plugged a computer in to it and reset it. The guy said it should be ok now, and that it was probably caused by a bad batch of petrol, but it came on again. I took it back last week, but after having it for two days and telling me it was fixed, the light came on while I was driving home. This time a guy from the dealer's told me to put 98-octane fuel in and not 91, as 91 is no good for my car. I am not only angry, but also confused.

It's got nothing to do with the fuel you're using; the Captiva is fine to run on regular unleaded. You need to have a mechanic experienced in diagnosing problems with modern engines check it out for you. Clearly the dealer's mechanics are not up to the task.
