I AM really disappointed with Ford. My 2004 BA Futura with 75,000km has ended up with transmission oil in the coolant, plus water in the transmission. My mate was telling me I should install an external transmission cooler and now I'm wearing his ``I told you so''. I bought an external cooler the moment I discovered oil in the coolant and flushed the transmission myself with 20 litres of transmission oil, which I think saved the transmission from any major damage. This is the sixth Ford I've owned and thought this model was the best ever until this problem. I contacted Ford customer service who acknowledged my loyalty as a Ford owner and agreed to assist me. After spending a lot of time consulting with them they agreed to replace the radiator plus $95 for flushing the transmission, but I had to pay all labour costs, plus transmission oils and coolant at a cost of $312. On presenting my car at the Ford dealer, I asked if the radiator still had this problem and was told the radiators had been modified. Wouldn't you have thought Ford would have notified owners of this? How many other Ford owners have experienced this same fault?
THE radiators have been a problem for some time, and most owners only find out they have a problem when the transmission starts acting up. That's usually too late and they end up having to pay for an expensive transmission rebuild. The problem is with the cooler in the radiator, which fails, letting coolant into the transmission. At least Ford came to the party and helped with the cost of repairs, even though you might have liked more.
