I AM disappointed with the fuel consumption I am getting from my 2007 Nissan Navara D40 turbo diesel auto. The ADR81/01 specs claim 9.5 litres for 100km. But after 7000km I am consistently using 14.5 litres for 100km regardless of how I drive it. I have a canopy roof-rack fitted and carry about 250kg of tools and equipment. My dealer says it will be run in after 8000-10,000km and the economy will improve, but I don't buy that. Other turbo diesels I've had rarely change from day one. Can you suggest any reasons or solutions?
IT CERTAINLY sounds as though you have a problem. I got better consumption than that out of the V6 petrol (12 litres for 100km) the last time I drove a D40. Like you, I doubt the economy will improve as the dealer claims. Go back to him and have it thoroughly checked -- the filters, fuel pressure etc.
