I read with interest the report regarding transmission faults in some Hondas, and that Honda advised dealers to repair cars only after owner complaints. I was wondering if Holden has a similar problem with the Vectra and the Astra. I'm told there is a concern with the engine timing belt, caused by the rollers or the tensioner or both. It appears there are two service books circulating. One states that the belt is to replaced at four years or 60,000km and the other at eight years or 120,000km. What is correct?

There have been problems with the timing belt breaking on the Astra engine, and the service interval has been cut from 120,000km to 60,000km. And there have been problems with the belt tensioner. Some have lost pressure and failed, and the belts have then broken.
