My 2009 D40 Nissan Navara work vehicle has been very troublesome since new. It is very well looked after and well maintained by the local Nissan dealer, but in the past year it has had three turbo boost solenoids and two pinion seals in the transfer case. I am concerned that Nissan has not come up with any real solutions to these problems, as they keep occurring and the dealer just replaces the items under warranty each time they break. I have also heard reports from our local area that clutches, timing chains and driveshafts are very temperamental and prone to failure around the mileage mine has done. Should I cut my losses?
We’ve had reports of clutch trouble with the D40, but we’ve also had reports of clutch failures on most one-tonne utes on the market. We haven’t heard of problems with timing chains or drive shafts. I wouldn’t get out of it on the basis of what you have experienced so far.
