Ask Smithy Xtra stop-start Maxima

My 2001 A33 Nissan Maxima has developed a problem whereby it would start, but immediately stall. The spark is good, we replaced six coils five weeks ago, the fuel is flowing freely and the fuel pump is working. Do you have any suggestions?

Independent Nissan service specialist Jerry Newman suggests you check the idle control valve and the air mass sensor, the latter doesn’t always show up as a fault on a diagnostic check.
