I have had several problems with my new Navara D40 ST-X since I purchased it just three weeks ago. There was a vibration and wobbling feeling through the seat, which I was informed by a tyre dealer was because the tyres had flat spots. The dealer changed three tyres, but also informed me it was a truck and built to have weight in it so it will "drive like a truck". The wobbling was marginally better after the tyre change, but was still there! Is the Navara supposed to drive like this? Is the Wrangler HP tyre any good? What is your recommendation for a premium tyre that will subside most road noise and vibrations for a 4WD?
My experience is that the D40 Navara is quite a smooth riding ute, sure it’s designed to carry a load, but compared to, say the old D22 Navara, which was a bone shaker the D40 is very smooth. It’s very unusual for a tyre to develop flat spots in a short period of time; the vehicle would have to be sitting for a long time for that to happen. Goodyear Wranglers are generally regarded as good tyres. If you wanted to try other brands, try B.F. Goodrich or Michelins.
