Holden Cruze: Airbag failure

I recently purchased a Holden Cruze CDX and continually see Holden selling the 5-star ANCAP rating as a key safety feature of this car. Unfortunately recently I was involved in accident where my Holden Cruze was T-boned on the driver's side. The force of the impact sent my vehicle into a 360-degree spin and completely dislodged the rear axle and wheels. It wasn't until I was pulled out of the vehicle that I noticed none of my airbags had deployed, particularly the curtain airbag specifically designed to minimize side impact injury. When I reported the fault to Holden I was told that the impact was not great enough to deploy the airbag. After explaining the extent of the damage I was then told that the impact needed to be on the centre door pillar. When I questioned the information I was then asked to send a photo of the damage and somebody would call me back. I am unsure how they would explain why the curtain bag didn't deploy from a photo, but will gladly send the photo showing the rear axle and wheels completely dislodged together with the rear passenger door caved into the back seat with the hope they investigate before somebody is severely injured. In the mean time I'm looking forward to buying a new car, but it won't be a Holden.
