The GR Corolla can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.29 seconds, while the Morizo Edition is marginally quicker at 5.21s.

Powering the GR Corolla is a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine, outputting 221kW/370Nm to all four wheels. The Morizo Edition boosts torque by 30Nm to a total output of 400Nm, but keeps power levels the same.

The GR Corolla interior is clad in leather and soft-touch materials throughout, while the Morizo Edition adds suede into the mix, as well as red-coloured accents for stitching, seatbelts and the steering wheel's 12 o-clock marker.

Standard features in the GR Corolla include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a manual parking brake, heated front seats, a head-up display, aluminium pedals, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone climate controls, and an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android auto. The Morizo Edition largely carries over the same equipment, but loses the heated seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charger to trim the kilos.

The GR Corolla features seating for five in GTS trim, but the Morizo Edition ditches the rear seats in the name of weight saving.

With a 50L fuel tank and a fuel economy rating of 8.4 litres per 100km, the GR Corolla has a theoretical driving range of 595km, while the thirster Morizo Edition (8.6L/100km) will do up to 580km. Both cars, however, sip 98RON petrol.
