Towing
Jeep owners write saying they love their four-wheel drives and that's well and good but wait until they try to sell one after more than three years. Without hesitation the Toyota LandCruiser would be my favourite, hands down. They are strong, tough, reliable and you are able to get parts anywhere in Australia.
After 148,000 km the automatic transmission in my 2008 Ford Escape is giving trouble. When cold it thumps on 1-2 shifts, and hesitates on 2-3 shifts; when hot it seems to be unsure of what gear it wants to select when downshifting. The dealer checked and there were no error codes showing up. What do you think it might be?
My husband and I are in th process of buying a new diesel vehicle that will tow a caravan of about 3.e5 tonnes and we are looking at the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Navara, Ford Everest and Toyota HiLux. Everyone we have spoken to that has a Jeep raves about them, yet other people when we mention Jeeps reply, "Don't buy one of them, they are terrible." The Navara is very powerful but very big and I don't particularly like the open tray although I know we can have a cover built. What can you tell us about the other two?
