Mitsubishi's 10-year time capsule

Paid Partnership with Mitsubishi

Picture the world ten years ago. It seemed a very different place, didn't it?

There was no Instagram. No Uber. No AirBNB. No iPads. And Netflix only existed in the USA, leaving the rest of us to collect these vast libraries of DVDs.

That's right, DVDs were actually still a thing, and you'd pick them up by the armful from VideoEzy, and then forget to return them, meaning you'd soon be hearing two of the most terrifying words of the late 2000s and early 2010s: "late fee".

Think about it for a moment, about just how much our lives have changed, and you'll realise that, while time sometimes feels like it's flying past, a decade is actually a Very Long Time.

And a decade in cars is no different, of course. Mitsubishi is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Australia, and I'm sure you can imagine the technological breakthroughs we've seen over that period.

You could forget about Apple CarPlay or Android Auto 10 years ago, for example. Instead the cutting-edge tech of the era was the ability to plug in your iPod, or, in the top-spec models, watch a DVD in the car. And then, presumably, pay a late fee when you forgot to return it.

Times have changed since then, of course, and today you'd be sitting in a very different car. One with touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio and USB charge points and power outlets and everything else you might need. There'd be more airbags, too, and autonomous braking systems, 360-degree cameras, lane change warning assist, blind-spot monitoring - the list goes on.

Even four-wheel-drive isn't just four-wheel-drive any more, either, with modern Mitsubishis equipped with the brand's exclusive Super Select system, which allows you to dial through a range of preset drive settings, meaning you're always perfectly setup for whatever surface you're driving over, whether you need high range, low range, or to lock the centre differential.

But here's the important part. With Mitsubishi's new Diamond Advantage game-changing 10-year warranty, a car purchased a decade ago would still be covered today. And a vehicle purchased today would be covered all the way to 2030. It's incredible when you think about it.

What's more, Mitsubishi's new Diamond Advantage program includes 10-years' of capped-price servicing, too. That means that you know exactly what each annual service will cost ahead of time, with the program covering parts, labour, oils, fluids and workshop supplies.

That means there are no surprises, and it really is peace of mind for an entire decade. Short answer? You're covered. And when Mitsubishi say covered, they mean it. Remember, this is a brand that's famous for the tough stuff. No other manufacturer has claimed more stage wins or outright victories in the seriously hardcore Dakar Rally.

Which means that, whether you're out bush or simply taming the urban jungle, you're covered for 10 full years, no matter how you use your car, or how much the world might change around you.
