Porsche 918

The Porsche 918 Spyder was first revealed as a concept in 2010 before entering production in 2013. Built as a successor to the Carrera GT, it combined a 4.6-litre V8 engine with two electric motors for a total output of 652 kW. Porsche limited production to 918 units worldwide, making it one of the rarest models in the brand’s modern history.

During its short production run from 2013 to 2015, the Porsche 918 saw no major generational updates, but it set new benchmarks for hybrid performance. It featured advanced carbon fibre construction, active aerodynamics and plug-in charging. Overseas, the car was officially sold only as the Porsche 918 Spyder, with no alternative names used across markets.

Today, the Porsche 918 is viewed as a turning point in Porsche’s history. It proved hybrid technology could be used in a flagship supercar and paved the way for later electrified models in the Porsche line-up.
