Subaru updates Levorg turbo wagon
By Jake Williams · 09 May 2019
Subaru has updated its mid-size Levorg wagon in Japan with new features, new tech, slightly revised styling and newly available models. To be released in Japan in June 2019, the updated Levorg now includes the STI Sport Black Selection and Advantage Line specs, with the former based on the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and the latter on the smaller 1.6-litre turbo. The updates to the Levorg won’t land immediately in Australia however, with Subaru Australia spokesperson Dave Rowley telling CarsGuide that there are “no changes planned imminently for our Levorg line-up.”Based on the STI Sport that’s currently sold in Australia, the STI Sport Black Selection adds black mirror caps and new two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels for a sportier look. The inside now has new 'Ultrasuede'/leather Recaro front seats, with the same upholstery mix spreading to the rear seat. The lower centre console now has soft-touch materials, and new stitching has been added all over the cabin for a more upmarket look. The Levorg Advantage Line is based on the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and adds new black 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as black mirror caps, door handles and exterior badging. The interior of the Advantage Line adds black and blue Ultrasuede/leather seating, as well as blue interior stitching and a blue dashboard inlay.Subaru has also given the Levorg the brand’s latest 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the brand’s latest SmartLink multimedia software. The Levorg’s auto high beam now operates from as low as 30km/h, instead of the former 40km/h threshold.

Subaru reveals Viziv Tourer concept in Geneva
By Neil Dowling · 07 Mar 2018
Subaru has hinted at its next Levorg wagon with the reveal at the Geneva motor show of its Viziv Tourer concept, an estate version of the WRX-previewing four-door show car shown at the 2017 Tokyo motor show.In addition to the Viziv Performance STI concept revealed in January, Subaru is continuing to steer the WRX family further afield from the Impreza small-car range. However, it is excepted the production version of the Viziv Tourer will be underpinned by Subaru's new Global Platform that the current Impreza and XV small SUV is already built on.On show this week at the Geneva motor show, the Viziv Tourer Concept sits on an extended 2730mm wheelbase (the current WRX is 2650mm) and measures 4775mm in length, 1930mm wide and 1435mm high. For comparison, the current Levorg measures 4690mm long, 1780mm wide and is 1485mm tall.Subaru announced the concept saying it embodies "the brand's vision for the future of making cars that deliver enjoyment and peace of mind to its customers".However, exact powertrain details were not divulged. The concept adheres to the show-car principles by having some potentially non-production items, such as the four-seat arrangement, 20-inch wheels and barely there side-view mirrors. It follows the design theme of the sedan concept with ultra-slim LED headlights, Subaru's signature hexagonal grille, large brake intakes and a pronounced lower air dam.In profile it presents as a rakish wagon with a low roofline and sleek tail lines, closely following the rear three-quarter treatment of Volvo's V-series models. The wagon design also neatly separates the future production model from the more off-road inspired Outback SUV.Prominent 'EyeSight' safety sensors can also been glimpsed on the Viziv Tourer concept, with Subaru playing up the technology as a cornerstone for its model."In anticipation of widespread future deployment of automated driving technologies, advanced driver-assist functions combining the next-generation EyeSight system with other devices have been installed in the car to reduce driver fatigue on long journeys and enable active enjoyment of driving with peace of mind," the Japanese carmaker said. Not the first Viziv concept revealed by Subaru, the moniker first appeared at the 2013 Geneva and Frankfurt motor shows as a diesel hybrid two-door hatch before expanding to more body styles. The show cars have been used by Subaru to gauge and refine concepts before production, which is exactly the route predicted by the latest Viziv wagon. If it becomes a production reality, it will likely morph into the next-generation Levorg due for release around 2020.

Subaru Levorg STI set for reveal
By Karla Pincott · 20 Dec 2013
One of the most interesting cars at the recent Tokyo motor show was the Subaru Levorg wagon concept, which is already on the radar for Australia when the production version is built -- expected to be later next year  and appear as a 2015 model. And it seems we might see other versions rolling off the line, with Subaru planning to unveil a performance-focused STI version at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. The Levorg concept at the recent show will offer the choice of a 125kW/250Nm 1.6-litre or a 200kW/350Nm 2.0-litre boxer four-cylinder engines -- the latter borrowed from the new WRX sedan and Forester XT.However, as with the WRX STI that will be unveiled at Detroit show in January -- around the same time as the Tokyo Auto Salon on the other side of the Pacific -- the Levorg STI is likely to up the ante of the 2.0-litre's outputs, with power figures close to 230kW being mentioned. It also gets sportier underpinnings and helpers, including a tweaked suspension, unique flexible tower bar and rear roof spoiler. And it won't be alone on the Auto Salon stand, being just one of five Levorg concepts headed for the event. Its siblings include Subaru's Levorg Premium Sports, and three other cars that are showcases for aftermarket brands: the Levorg Syms, Levorg Prova and Levorg Corazon Sportier.Subaru Australia has put its hand up for regular versions of the oddly-named Levorg wagon, though there’s no word yet on whether it will be offered locally. If it is, the car would likely be seen as a wagon body version of the Impreza, filling the gap between the small hatchback and the larger Liberty models. They'll be accompanied by the BRZ tS that will be unveiled as an entrant for the Nurburgring 24 Hour race.
