Utes with 48V - or more commonly called 'mild-hybrid' - systems integrated into their drivetrains could become the norm until manufacturers get around to traditional hybrid or electric utes, with a new report from Thailand suggesting Isuzu is planning to 48V-electrify the D-Max ute.

Isuzu will still offer diesel powertrains for models like D-Max, MU-X and the N Series light truck, at least in the medium term, as it believes the oil-burning powertrain still has a place in a quickly electrifying world.
