Hyundai RN30 hot hatch concept teased
By Malcolm Flynn · 23 Sep 2016
i30-based RN30 hot hatch concept looks set to trump the Focus RS for outright aggro. We've known it's been coming for some time, but Hyundai has finally given us our first visual taste of the i30-based hot hatch from the Korean maker’s new N performance brand.Teased in a single image for now ahead of its full reveal at next week’s Paris motor show, the concept looks to have Group B-style boxed wheelarches front and rear to hide wider front and rear tracks, with a gaping front airdam to make its performance intent very clear. The teaser image also could hint at the as-yet unseen three-door version of the new third-generation i30, given there’s no sign of a rear door shutline in the pic. Hyundai’s press material says the RN30 was born as a racing machine. While we’re still unsure if this concept points to the expected circa-200kW Golf GTI rival or a circa-250kW Focus RS equivalent, Hyundai is certainly on the right track when it comes to hot hatch looks.     Hyundai’s press material says the RN30 was “born as a racing machine”, and is a result of collaboration between Hyundai Motorsport (HMSG), Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre (HMETC) and Hyundai Motor’s Performance Development & High Performance Vehicle Division.CarsGuide.com.au will bring you all the latest RN30 news from the Hyundai stand at the Paris motor show next Thursday.
