Throughout the lead-up to the event the motor show will conduct a number of competitions, with everything from tickets to unique opportunities up for grabs.

Starting next week, @themotorshow will give followers the chance to win double passes to the Australian International Motor Show, where they will see a host of concept cars and future models – such as the Toyota FT-86 II concept, which was recently announced as one of the show’s star attractions.

The motor show's Twitter and Facebook pages will feature the absolute latest news, from exhibitor announcements to news about events and activities happening at the show. The event's Facebook page will also be used for discussions about the show and other automotive-related topics.

In addition, at the motor show's media day on the morning of Friday 1 July @themotorshow will cover every key exhibitor unveiling as it happens live on Twitter – making all announcements available to the general public as they happen.

Russ Tyrie, event director of the Australian International Motor Show said communicating with more people via social media was a good fit with the technological focus of the show.

"The Australian International Motor Show is one of this country's largest and most prominent displays of new technology in the country," Mr Tyrie said. "Therefore it is important that the way we communicate represents the fact that the show and the exhibitors in attendance are at the very forefront of technology. We are working with exhibitors and media to offer our followers some really interesting and unique prizes and opportunities, beginning with show tickets next week."

The Australian International Motor Show opens at 6pm on Friday 1 July and runs through until Sunday 10 July at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
