What is the best SUV for towing and off-road?
Answered by Paul Gover · 06 Nov 2015

It's becoming a broken record, because the CX-5 gets The Tick and is best in class. The new Vitara is roomy and well built, just flawed by an awful automatic gearbox.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2016: When will the range be updated?
Answered by Graham Smith · 16 Sep 2016

We couldn't get any definitive info on the release date, and no one was giving away any details of pricing. All we were told is to expect an announcement soon. But with the special deals on the current LS running out on September 30, I would guess the new model is due shortly after that date.

Good option for boat towing?

Comparing utes and SUVs is tough. I get complaints from Grand Cherokee owners, the HiLux is being replaced soon and the Outlander is nothing special. The Colorado SUV is probably best for you but drive a Hyundai Santa Fe before you commit.

Hyundai i40 wagon vs Mitsubishi Outlander as family cars
Answered by Paul Gover · 21 Sep 2015

You will definitely find it easier to work with the Hyundai at your height, and it's a very practical wagon as well. I'm not a fan of the Outlander, which makes it easy to recommend the i40.

The three cars you name all have merit, none has any major issue to be concerned about and all fit your needs, but you will have to shop around to find them within your age and budget limits.

The Tucson gets The Tick from me and rates above the X-Trail, but my first choice is the all-new Kia Sportage.

Best 7-seater under $30k?

You’ll struggle to get a 2013 Kluger KX-S within your budget; you would have to go to an earlier model to find one that fits. You’re right the Kluger is roomier, but thirstier than the Outlander, which would fit within your budget. You say you’re a family of four; presumably two of those are children who might be comfortable in the rear seats. It’s probably a compromise, but it seems the Outlander would be the better choice for your circumstances.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2010: VRX engine noise
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 21 Nov 2014

Without listening to the engine and hearing the noise I couldn't speculate on what it might be, but any mechanic worth his sale should be able to give you an accurate guide as to where the noise is coming from and what might be causing it. What you appear to have been told by your dealer sounds like complete rubbish to me, a "noisy charcoal canister", really. Take it back to the dealer and demand their proper attention to the problem.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2016: Possible electric issues?
Answered by Graham Smith · 16 Sep 2016

That all sounds like dealer speak for "I haven't got a clue what's wrong." There shouldn't be an undue delay in starting, the engine should crank immediately the key is turned of the starter pressed, and the engine should start within a couple of seconds. If it doesn't there is something wrong. The power steering shouldn't drop out, if it does as you say there is again something wrong. Take it back to your dealer and ask then to investigate the problems and fix them.
