The Jeep Grand Cherokee L was launched in 2021 as the first long-wheelbase version of Jeep’s popular SUV. Developed alongside the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee, it gave the brand a three-row option to better compete in the large SUV market. While it shares much of its styling and technology with the standard Grand Cherokee, the L introduced a stretched body and seating for up to seven.
In North America, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L replaced the role previously filled by the discontinued Commander. Unlike the regular Grand Cherokee, the L arrived first and helped establish Jeep’s new generation of larger, more refined SUVs. Its introduction also signalled Jeep’s push into family-focused models while maintaining off-road capability.
Today the Jeep Grand Cherokee L continues as part of the fifth-generation line-up, offered alongside the shorter two-row model. It provides extra space and flexibility while carrying the same technology and powertrains. For buyers in Australia, it stands as Jeep’s largest SUV and a competitor to seven-seat rivals from Toyota, Hyundai and Kia.
The line-up currently starts at $69,450 for the Grand Cherokee L Night Eagle 7 Seat (4X4) and ranges through to $90,450 for the range-topping Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve 7 Seat (4X4).
