The GWM Haval H7 is a mid-size SUV that marked Haval’s push into more premium territory when it debuted globally in 2015. Designed to offer more space and comfort than the compact H6, the H7 was aimed at families seeking value without compromising on features. It launched in two configurations: a five-seater and a slightly longer H7L with a third row.
While the original H7 was never officially offered in Australia, it played a key role in shaping GWM’s reputation for building practical SUVs with high equipment levels and aggressive pricing. Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, it featured a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and front or all-wheel drive, depending on the market. Its interior focused on comfort, offering leather trim, digital instrumentation and a large infotainment display.
Although later overshadowed by newer models like the H6 and Jolion, the Haval H7 helped establish the brand’s global credibility, particularly in markets like China and the Middle East.
