Ford Maverick Review, For Sale, Specs, Models & News in Australia

FROM
$3,740

The combination of Ford and the Maverick nameplate has a long history.

A compact coupe in the USA in the late 1960s and ‘70s and more recently a light duty ute.

But some Aussies will recognise the name from the re-badged GQ Nissan Patrol ‘shared’ with Ford Australia in the 1990s as part of the then Federal Government’s car plan aimed at optimizing local vehicle manufacturing efficiency.

The line-up currently starts at $3,740 for the Maverick XL (4X4) and ranges through to $9,570 for the range-topping Maverick (4X4).

Ford Maverick FAQs

Ask Smithy Xtra 91 Ford Maverick dual-fuel issues

You’ve replaced the ignition system, so you need to look at the fuel supply. I would check the fuel pressure, the fuel pump, and make sure it’s getting enough fuel.

Going out on patrol

THE MQ is really getting a little long in the tooth, so I would recommend you think about a GQ, though you will find it hard to fit one within your budget. Going by your description of the sort of driving you will be doing I would advise against the Patrol. It sounds like a very expensive way of getting to the city, ferrying the kids around and going shopping, with only an occasional weekend away. Go for a regular car -- it will be better suited to your needs and be less expensive to run. If you must go for a Patrol, buy the 4.2-litre petrol GQ.
