Ford Fiesta Gearbox & Transmission Problems

I agree, but unfortunately it is a reality that new cars are not always free of problems, and the Fiesta has issues with its dual-clutch transmission. There are claimed to be service fixes for the transmission so go back to the dealer and press for a fix for your car, and don't take no for an answer.

I hear your frustration. Go back to your dealer and demand action, it’s clearly not good enough and needs to be fixed. If you find the dealer reluctant to help go direct to Ford’s Customer Assistance service and again demand action. The time for polite requests has long passed; it’s time to be assertive. Should you not get anywhere by doing go to the consumer affairs people, or take legal action.

There have been changes to the clutch and seals to prevent the fluid contamination issue, but only cars that have gone into the dealer with the problem have had the new parts fitted. The extended warranty is to give you peace of mind that if yours suffers this issue in the future it will be fixed.

The transmission you've got is not a conventional automatic that we've become accustomed to over the years. This one is in effect a manual gearbox with an automatic shifting mechanism, but it's being sold as an automatic. Ford is not alone in using it, but it should be more proactive in letting people know what it is and how it works, and how they should drive it. First, you need to separate the driving characteristics of the transmission from a mechanical malfunction that's occurring, because they are two different issues. The shuddering sounds like a clutch pack problem, you're other complaints sound like they come from the way the transmission operates.
