The TDI Quattro is the second tier in the new Audi Q5's launch line-up, and the first grade to come with all-wheel drive.
It costs from $87,600 which is a big jump from the TFSI below it, but offers all-wheel drive and a punchier and more efficient diesel powertrain.
The 2.0-litre diesel hybrid-assisted engine produces 150kW/400Nm, making it as powerful, but torquier than its four-cylinder petrol sibling. It drives all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The MHEV+ hybrid assist in the gearbox provides an additional 18kW/230Nm and can motivate the vehicle under electric power for short periods, making the Q5 TDI a unique plugless diesel hybrid. This system also helps it achieve a fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km. It is the most fuel efficient version of the new Q5.
Standard equipment mirrors that of the entry-level car, featuring 19-inch alloys, matrix LED headlights, an 11.9-inch digital dash, and a 14.5-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other standard items include online connectivity with built-in navigation, an eight-speaker sound system, leather interior trim with brushed aluminium inlays, a wireless phone charger, 360-degree parking camera, a power adjust driver's seat, heated front seats, tri-zone climate, as well as keyless entry and push-start ignition.
Boot space measures 520 litres with five seats up or up to 1473 litres with the second row folded down. There is no spare, just a tyre repair kit under the floor.
The Q5 range is covered by a five-year and unlimited kilometre warranty, while servicing is most affordable when five years are purchased up front for $3520 ($704 per year). Servicing is required once every 12 months or 15,000km.
