The second of the three Kluger trim levels, the GXL is powered by the super-smooth 218kW/350Nm 3.5-litre V6, backed up by an eight-speed automatic, both new for 2017.
The front-wheel drive (FWD) version starts at $53,550, with a further $550 required for any colour other than black. The GXL is exactly $10,000 more than a corresponding GX.
The GXL keeps the 18-inch wheel size of the GX but with a different design, the touchscreen is bigger at 8.0-inches and hosts sat nav with SUNA traffic updates and a DAB+ radio, keyless entry and start replaces old-school remote central locking from the key fob, the driver's seat is electrically adjustable and both front seats are heated.

The safety package is unchanged from the GX's seven airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, reversing camera and rear parking sensors.
Like the GX, the GXL has cloth trim, automatic headlights, seven seats and heaps of storage, while there is an opening window in the tailgate. Passengers are also treated to three-zone climate control.
Front wheel drive GXLs return a claimed 9.1L/100km.
