Nissan Qashqai TL 2017 review: snapshot

The TL marks the top of the Qashqai range in Australia, wearing the stiff $39,990 price tag.

The TL marks the top of the Qashqai range in Australia, wearing the stiff $39,990 price tag, $6000 more than the TS and $3000 more than the petrol Ti auto. The TL shares much of the same specification as the Ti petrol, the only real difference being the diesel engine.

It is also worth pointing out here that an all-wheel drive Hyundai Tucson Active diesel - with an admittedly lower specification - is almost $5000 cheaper than the TL, while the Tucson Elite diesel is $1500 more. A Mazda CX-5 Maxx Sport diesel is $500 cheaper. Both are from the next class up, so perhaps the TL isn't the best value proposition in the Qashqai range, unless you a) want a top of the range diesel Qashqai or b) don't want a car from the next class up.

In its own class, a fully-laden Mazda CX-3 Akari diesel AWD is a handy $2300 cheaper, the ASX XLS diesel auto AWD is almost $3000 cheaper, and the petrol-only Honda HR-V with ADAS and metallic paint is $5000 cheaper.
