Toyota Australia has revealed pricing for its three new halo HiLux models, with the Rugged checking in at $54,990 plus on-road costs, followed by the Rugged X and Rogue which top the range at $61,690.

Based on the current 4x4 double-cab SR HiLux which starts at $46,560, the Rugged is the least expensive of the new offerings at $54,990, and features a host of extra components including a redesigned grille, side rock rails, a snorkel, sports bar, a heavy duty steel rear bar and recovery points.

When the new HiLux editions go on sale later this month, the full-fruit Rugged X will be available at $61,690, representing a $7250 premium over the SR5 4x4 double-cab upon which it's based.

The Rugged X adds a winch-compatible heavy-duty steel front bar with an integrated bash plate, an LED lightbar and driving lights, heavy-duty side rock rails, front and rear recovery points, a new steel rear bar and a sports bar that can support a vertical load of 75kg.

The full-fruit Rugged X will be available at ,690.

Inside, the Rugged X features a new instrument cluster, metallic black ornamentation, black headlining and leather-accented seats.

Both the Rugged and Rugged X will come standard in manual guise, with an automatic transmission offered at a $2000 premium, however the more road-oriented Rogue will be available exclusively in automatic form at $61,690 plus on-road costs.

Designed for those wanting  a 'premium' pick-up option, the Australian-designed Rogue features a unique front end design, outboard driving lights, a new hard tonneau cover and the same interior as the Rugged X.

As previously reported, the new HiLux trio share the same mechanical specifications as the SR5 or SR models, making use of Toyota's 2.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine.

“We know that the average HiLux customer already spends over 00 on accessories for their vehicles so we looked at what those needs were.

Toyota Australia vice-president of sales and marketing Sean Hanley said that the new 4x4 dual-cab HiLux variants were geared towards varying types of 4x4 dual-cab buyers, insisting that they are much more than just accessorised special editions.

“These three new HiLux heroes give customers a bold new choice in the market whether they are looking for a stylish and refined top-end ute for work and play or need enhanced protection, functionality and recovery capability for serious off-roading,” said Mr Hanley.

“We know that the average HiLux customer already spends over $2000 on accessories for their vehicles so we looked at what those needs were from both a capability and style perspective and developed a raft of new features for HiLux” he said.

“The Rugged X, Rogue and Rugged are not accessorised special editions, they are fully fledged new HiLux models that our customers demanded and we can be justifiably proud that they were designed and developed here in Australia.”
