First we had big American utes, now the jumbo SUVs from the US are headed our way.
The GMC Yukon Denali will go on sale in Australia from the second quarter of 2025.
It is imported into Australia by GMSV (General Motors Special Vehicles) and converted to right-hand drive in Melbourne by the Walkinshaw Group.
The Yukon is a big SUV, it’s wider and longer than a Toyota LandCruiser and has seating for eight.
It has a cargo space of a cavernous 3480L when you fold the second and third rows seats down, which is 16 times the standard boot space of a Corolla hatchback.
Big SUVs need big engines and the Yukon’s mighty 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine fits the bill, delivering 313kW and 624Nm to all four wheels.
It is expected to have monster towing capacity, but GMSV won’t reveal the exact number until closer to launch.
GM Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Jess Bala, said the Yukon Denali is the ultimate big luxury family SUV.
“There’s no denying it’s a statement vehicle - with the Denali package, the Yukon offers customers the ultimate in premium finishes and performance,” said Bala.
“The GMC Yukon is the ultimate vehicle for families and groups who need to transport as many as eight people in comfort, safety, and style, combined with unheralded towing capability and luggage carrying ability.
“A powerful petrol V8 engine, luxurious interior, cavernous boot space are complemented with the latest in technology and safety systems to make the GMC Yukon Denali the latest ‘must have’ vehicle brought to you by GMSV,” she said.
Inside the Yukon will have plenty of tech and luxe features.
There is a 16.8-inch tablet style central multimedia screen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The brand has taken the car’s size into account and fitted 13 different camera angles to make parking and navigating tight spaces easier.
Prices are expected to be about $150,000 for the Yukon Denali.
