Skoda has shown a close to production version of its upcoming Epiq pure-electric compact SUV crossover at this week’s International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Munich.

Recently confirmed for Australian sale as early as 2027 by Skoda Australia Head of Marketing & Product Kieran Merrigan, the 4.1m long single-motor SUV rides on the VW Group MEB platform with range now confirmed at up to 425 km.

Although positioned as a ‘Show Car’ this latest version of the Epiq appears to be retail-ready, with design details like the grille treatment, turret and wheels more thoroughly resolved than the concept version which debuted early last year.

To be built at Volkswagen’s Navarra plant in Northern Spain the small five-seater boasts a sizeable 475-litre boot which Skoda says, “Makes it practical for everyday use while also suitable for longer journeys.”

In typical fashion the Czech manufacturer has focused on “practicality and digital integration” for the car’s interior design with “generous storage options and clever luggage solutions, including bag hooks, fasteners, and hidden underfloor compartments.”

There’s also wireless phone charging and a mix of physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels.

Although pricing is yet to be confirmed Skoda has said, “The starting price of the future production model is expected to be comparable with its ICE counterpart, the Kamiq, in many markets – positioning it as the most affordable electric vehicle in Škoda’s expanding portfolio.”

In Australia, that would position the Epiq somewhere between the Kamiq Select at $33,990, before on-road costs, and the top-spec Kamiq Monte Carlo at $43,890, BOC.

The production version of the Skoda Epiq is scheduled to make its world premiere in mid-2026.
