And by a matter of hours before Hurricane Earl is due to batter the Eastern seaboard.  The impeding arrival of the huge storm has meant we had to make Boston little more than an overnight pit stop. Not so short we could not grab a great seafood meal at the Hotel Marlowe. Some things are not worth skimping on.

Then it was a dawn start for the last push into the Big Apple via Connecticut. As commuters did their thing, reading, eating and adjusting their make-up at the wheel, they had no idea the 2 Fiestas were the first pair in our global relay.

The first leg of this circumnavigation is the longest in any one country. Even Australia will be bisected in less miles.  From the Pacific we have taken in beaches, desert, canyons, crossed the Mississippi to forests, mountains and finally the Atlantic. Cities we have been to include LA, Phoenix, Dallas, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Boston and New York City.

Our first sight of the Atlantic came on the NJ shore. West of NYC, it is the best view back to the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. The sight of our second ocean on this trip was magical. Ahead of Earl, the Atlantic was shiny sand sublime.

Our Mexican-made Fiestas will remain in NY as the Fiesta World Tour heads east to Ireland for a restart on Sept 6th.   From the eastern edge of the Atlantic to the shores of the Arabian Gulf, Leg 2 is the longest leg in terms of time.  In just over 2 weeks we will be in Dubai.

Thanks America (and Canada). It’s been emotional.
