Range Rover has announced it will release a special edition SV model exclusively to the Australian market in a very limited quantity.
Just six units of the Range Rover SV Orpheus Edition will be produced, with the unique model taking its name from the remote Orpheus Island off the coast of Queensland.
As is expected with Range Rover, exclusivity comes at a high price, with the Orpheus Edition starting at $520,561 before on-road costs, a premium of about $125,000 over the SV short-wheelbase variant it is based on.
In return for your extra coin, the Orpheus Edition delivers a suite of bespoke design features, which extend beyond the vehicle.
That starts with a bespoke two-tone colour scheme with gloss blue paint for the body panelling and Beguiling Silver paint for the roof.
23-inch forged alloy wheels offer an additional colour contrast in Dark Grey and Black Satin, while Range Rover bonnet and tailgate script comes in black metal with a chrome outline.
Inside, Range Rover said it has attempted to replicate Orpheus’ rippling sands on the car’s “Perlino” leather seats, which come in a natural cream colour along with the seatbelts' and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Vehicle controls, such as the central gear shifter, come in ceramic white.
There’s additional bespoke Orpheus features such as scatter cushions, treadplates and seat embroidery.
Unchanged is the SV’s twin-turbo, mild-hybrid 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, which continues to send 452kW/750Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
Range Rover claims a top speed of 261km/h and a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds. It carries a 3500kg towing capacity.
In addition to the vehicle, customers will also receive a custom-made sculpture of Jayme Marshal, a Wulgurukaba and Yunbenen woman who represents the next generation of Indigenous leaders.
The sculpture is a replica of the 2.2m high original that features in the Ocean Sentinels installation, five metres underwater off the coast of Townsville.
Ranger Rover is hosting an invite-only event at Orpheus Island from November 29 to December 5, in line with the brand’s Range Rover house campaign, though its unclear whether purchasing an Orpheus Edition lands you on the guest list.
