European rival takes aim at Tesla Model Y: 2025 Skoda Enyaq pricing and features announced for new Kia EV6 and Ford Mustang Mach-E challenger

Skoda has gone on the attack pricing its first electric SUV to come to Australia — the Enyaq — to go head-to-head with Tesla’s Model Y.

The Skoda Enyaq range starts from a list price of $69,990 for the entry grade Sportline with the sporty RS sitting at the top of the line-up at $83,990.

The Tesla Model Y Long Range is also $69,990, while the Performance grade lists for $82,900, all prices before on-road costs.

Skoda Australia’s Head of Product and Marketing Kieran Merrigan said the arrival of the Enyaq comes at a time when Australia’s uptake of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) is growing.  

“Australia’s BEV market is maturing rapidly and the Enyaq is an expression of that,” he said.

“Enyaq is a BEV that, especially with its recent upgrades, embodies the dimensions and inherent value that a Kodiaq, Superb or an Octavia RS customer has every right to expect in a Skoda. European engineering and technology with transparency around ownership costs, underwritten by Guaranteed Future Value, backed by expert dealership – that is not a proposition that more recent entrants to the Australian market can match.”

Coming standard on the Sportline are 21-inch ‘Supernova’ alloy wheels, LED matrix headlights, proximity key, rear privacy glass, panoramic glass roof, 13-inch media screen, 5.3-inch instrument cluster, eight speaker stereo, digital radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, microfleece and leather upholstery, heated front seats, three zone climate control and flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Stepping up to the RS brings a sporty bodykit with 21-inch ‘Vision’ alloy wheels, leather upholstery, head up display with augmented reality system, Canton sound system, auto parking, power adjustable front seats, heated outboard second row seats and drive modes with adaptive chassis control.

An optional Ultimate pack for $6000 can be added to the Sportline which adds the head up display, Canton sound system, auto parking, heated second row outboard seats and power adjustable front seats.

Both the Sportline and RS are fully electric with an 82kWh battery. The Sportline has a single electric motor at the rear making 210kW and 545Nm, while the RS has two motors (front and rear making all-wheel drive) producing a combined 250kW and 679Nm.

The Sportline has a range of up to 561km with combined driving while the RS has a range of up to 530km.  

Those figures are a close match for the Model Y’s range with the Long Range grade capable of up to 533km and the Performance having up to 514km.

The Enyaq leads the charge of Skoda’s electric vehicles, with the Elroq small SUV due to follow in mid-2025.
