2023 Toyota HiAce and Granvia price and specs: Does the Ford Transit Custom and Hyundai Staria have anything to be worried about?

The popular HiAce workhorse is now offered with a barn-door option.

Toyota Australia has rolled out changes to its HiAce commercial van and related Granvia people mover for 2023.

According to the brand, “the upgrades reflect Toyota's commitment to continuously improving its range, taking on board customer feedback to provide customers with improved features”, with the HiAce scoring a barn door option, and both models now having driver’s side powered lumbar support.

The HiAce’s new barn doors are available to short- and long-wheelbase models, while the latter also scores dual rear wipers with the option box ticked.

The doors can also swing fully open to 180 degrees, while also being able to soft-lock at 90 degrees to make loading and unloading items a little easier.

However, the barn doors will not be available on buyers of the HiAce Crew, Commuter or manual versions of the LWB, and the option will add another $750 to the asking price.

Speaking of, for 2023, the HiAce line-up is also more expensive than before, moving up $110 to now kick off from $44,760 before on-road costs for the LWB van with a six-speed manual.

However, the top-spec SLWB van with a six-speed automatic actually moves up $670 to $55,320.

The modest $110 price rise also effects the HiAce Commuter, which features seating for 12 passengers, and can be had from $69,760.

As for the Granvia, prices are also up for the 2023 model, with the standard, unnamed grade in six- and eight-seat configuration up $100 to $65,250 and $67,250 respectively, and the high-spec VX increasing $110 to $75,950 in either seating configuration.

Like in 2022 vehicles, every HiAce van and Granvia are powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, which punches out 130kW/450Nm.

Meanwhile, the HiAce Commuter features the same engine, but tuned to 120kW/420Nm.
