The service manual for my 2011 Nissan X-Trail 2.5 CVT states the timing belt must be replaced at 100,000km. But service personnel say my model has a self-adjusting timing chain and does not need to be replaced. Which is correct?

Nissan spokesman Peter Fadeyev says: "Since the late 1980s, all Nissan vehicles have had a timing chain fitted, not a belt. This chain does not need replacing as a service-related item."
