I HAVE a late-2002 Monaro CV8 with 48,000km on the odo. I got 39,000km from the original tyres and would have got more had the inner-front edges not worn prematurely. When I was shopping for replacements, salespeople were stunned that I'd got that mileage. Most of my driving is done around town. I should have rotated the tyres earlier than 20,000km and had them rebalanced, but I wonder if the expense is worth it considering the mileage I got. I run them at 40 psi.
ROTATING your tyres evens out the wear on all tyres and you get greater mileage from the set instead of wearing out the rears and being left with half-worn fronts. It's unusual to wear out the front tyres before the rear ones. In your case, running the higher inflation pressure might be the key to the wear pattern.
