    Volkswagen Amarok 2013: Refusal to fix lighting system

    At your suggestion I followed up with VW Australia and extended an invitation to the Managing Director of VW Australia to take a drive with me in my Amarok at night to convince me the vehicle's lighting system was of an acceptable standard. Following a phone call from Customer Relations, and a formal response in writing, which I had to ask for, VW refused to concede to my request and state their position has not changed, which was no surprise to me. I then asked members on the Amarok Owners website to contact me regarding their experiences with VW/ Dealers in relation to resolution of headlight issues. I received only five responses, of which all had complained to dealers, and after assessment were all found to be within specification. I can only surmise that all others have given up any hope of VW accepting there is an issue and rectified by taking action to improve the lights themselves by adjusting the lights, fitting driving lights, fitting HID in high beam, or fitting improved low beam globes. I am still hopeful of a satisfactory resolution, any suggestions where to go from here would be certainly appreciated.

    I'm not surprised that VW refused your request to meet and go for a ride in your car, but it's important to keep the company under pressure in an effort to keep them honest. It's now a stand-off. I would engage an automotive engineer to assess the lights to give you an expert opinion on their performance. Once you have that approach VW again. You could also try enlisting other Amarok owners in your cause.
